Fiducia Adviser Insight – Robert Wood
We recently announced a trio of new members to join Team Fiducia. One of which was the arrival of Robert Wood, a Financial Adviser who joined us following several years at Scrutton Bland.
So who is Robert Wood?
Robert Wood or Rob as he prefers to be called, was born in 1985 and grew up in Harwich. Rob was one of 2 children in his family, he has a younger sister.
From a young age Rob developed a passion for Rugby and as a junior played for Harwich, Colchester and his county sides. To this day Rob still enjoys playing the sport and is currently the Club Captain of his local side, Harwich.
In 2003 Rob met his now wife and mother to his children Michelle. Rob speaks highly of his wife and like any honest husband will admit, behind every strong man is an even stronger woman. Rob married Michelle in July, 2011 and they currently live in Harwich with their two young children aged 6 & 4.
With a history of playing a team sport, it is not surprising Rob is a huge team player and values those around him to help achieve a common goal. Rob has a great sense of humour and whilst he’s happy instigating the jokes, like any good joker, he’s happy laughing at himself with his colleagues. This, we think, is a fine quality around our offices.
How did it all begin?
Rob began his working life in 2003 working for the Ministry of Defence and has actually signed the official secrets act here in the U.K., with that bombshell there’s not much else we or Rob can say on the matter for obvious reasons, so let’s look at his career post M.O.D.
Rob has been in the finance industry for over 15 years, spending several years working with a large regional firm of financial advisers, accountants and insurance brokers in Scrutton Bland. Rob primarily worked in their Colchester office as a financial adviser ensuring the firms clients received expert advice to meet their needs. Prior to this Rob worked in the Banking sector for a product provider. Qualification wise, Rob currently holds the level 4 Cii Diploma Certificate in Financial Planning and is aiming to achieve Chartered status in the very near future.
Joining Fiducia, the future
Rob was only too happy to join us here at Fiducia and had the following to say on his arrival at our offices;
“As soon as I knew Fiducia were looking to bolster their advisory team, the opportunity to join Fiducia was very exciting. Both Gordon and Susie (who I have worked with previously) provided me with a real insight to what they are trying to achieve at Fiducia and I’m pleased to be joining at an exciting time for the company.”
We asked Rob why he enjoys being a financial adviser and his response, whilst short and straight to the point, really does speak volumes about what an adviser does;
“I like to help people solve their financial problems and improve their financial outlooks”
Rob recalls the moment he first helped a client achieve some clarity around their future financial self;
“The thought of seeing the numbers in front of you really does provide peace of mind, it was great knowing I had helped someone understand their future self’s ‘needs’ more, I couldn’t wait to do it again in the future”
In his spare time, Rob likes participating in Quiz’s, and more recently whilst awaiting to join us here at Fiducia, he has found a new sport to play, Golf. Whilst he admits he’s not particularly good at it, he enjoys playing and looks forward to getting better with a bit of practise.
Rob has joined our advice team and has already begun delivering his expertise for clients.
We find Rob to be a very attentive financial adviser who likes to ensure he fully understands his clients’ goals and needs. In order for him to deliver the desired outcomes for his clients he adopts the personable approach, a quality every adviser here at Fiducia possesses.
We’re really pleased Rob chose to join our team of Multi award-winning advisers and we look forward to seeing him thrive with us in the future.
