Developments in Dedham – October 2021

Walt Disney once said “We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things because we’re curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths”. At Fiducia we’re continuously looking to do new things, this past month was no different and we did open a new door…literally.
Whilst our office refit was being completed by the excellent team at Source One, the entire team took a time out together in London to take on what is dubbed ‘The Ultimate Team Challenge’, the Crystal Maze in Shaftesbury Avenue.
The team was divided into two groups, with the leaders of each group being Gordon and Susie all that was left to decide were the team names. ‘His Lordship’ and ‘Practically Perfect’ won the votes, you won’t need too many guesses to decide who led which team…
The entire group set off from Colchester for an action packed, fun filled day with the first stop being brunch at the Breakfast Club before a dash across town for the Crystal Maze Experience. Both teams enjoyed whizzing around the Medievil, Industrial, Futuristic and Aztec zones completing many tasks along the way. Susie’s team arrived at the Crystal Dome with 4 crystals, whilst Gordon led his team to the finale with 8 crystals. What happened next is open for debate…Team Susie aka Practically Perfect collected a sizeable number of golden tickets in the short time they had in the dome, an impressive 751.
Team Gordon aka ‘His Lordship’ had what can only be described as a malfunction. Whilst the team felt they collected thousands of tickets; their score in fact failed to register on the leader board. Now, depending on who you talk to depends on how this might have occurred, some say the amount collected was so high the system couldn’t compute the amount. Others will say (mainly those on Team Susie) that the number was so low the system couldn’t feature it on the leader board.
At the end of the event, who won really didn’t matter – well for some anyway. The event had been a roaring success and all members had a fantastic time. The team regrouped as one and headed off for some supper in good spirits at Brasserie Blanc.
Looking back, the day was one enjoyed by all and much praise must be given to Practise Manager Liz for organising the entire day for the team – thank you Liz.

So, what else happened this month at Fiducia?
Rob Wood had the pleasure of presenting prizes to the winners of the British Cycling Event we are supporting – The Colchester Centurion Race Series. The Fiducia Wealth Management 3/4’s race was won by the same rider of the series opener, Calum Muir, an Under 16 National Champion. Here’s Rob standing proudly with the podium winners.

We have continued our support of Colchester Rugby Club, the team have been performing well and are currently positioned 4th in the London 1 North division after 8 games, seven points off first placed leaders, Sudbury. During the month of October the team played 4 games, winning 3 and losing 1. If you’d like to come along to a game with us, feel free to reach out to our team.
The month finished with a new door being opened, quite literally…a door to the new office, following its refit. Gordon cut the tape and the team piled in as can be seen in the photo below. Awaiting the team on their desks were a few surprises, some of which was the amazing sweet boxes as well as some personalised mugs and note books.
Artwork’s going up next week and as you can see, we still have a few empty desks, these are all part of our future growth plans. This is an exciting time to be involved with us.

This refit is just the start of a series of planned works at our offices, all planned to not disturb the outstanding levels of expertise we provide our clients. Source One Interiors have been fantastic, and our team have adjusted well to ensure our performance levels haven’t been impacted. Liz and Sarah (our Systems & Finance Analyst) have been instrumental in making everything run smoothly, whilst also managing their own workloads. Thank you and well done, everyone loves the refit and it’s great to have the entire team under the same roof again.
It’s been an exciting month here at Fiducia, next month looks set to be just as exciting. We look forward to updating you accordingly.
