Schools out for summer, but the good work in our office continues. Encouraging progress has been made over the past couple of months here at Fiducia and all things being well, it’s set to continue in the months ahead.

Whilst many will be packing their suitcases and downloading their Covid passport readying for overseas travel – Team Fiducia included, our offices will continue to be busy in the coming months, much like they were throughout June and July.

In June we welcomed Kara Freeman to Team Fiducia. Kara joins our Client Services Team following 3 years of working for NHS 111. This included working throughout the Covid19 pandemic and supporting the nation during a difficult period. Prior to this and starting a family, Kara worked at Barclays in the personal banking division.

Furthermore, in early July, Lynsie Hale joined our Client Services Team. Lynsie spent 14 years working in Health & Social Care before looking for a career change and a future in the finance industry.

We are extremely pleased both Kara (below left) and Lynsie (below right) agreed to join our team and we look forward to seeing their careers flourish with Team Fiducia in the future.

Whilst we have been recruiting to coincide with our growth, we have also been acknowledging and celebrating the success of our existing workforce.

Laura King has been promoted to Paraplanner following exam success. In addition to successfully passing the Diploma exams, Laura was also undertaking a Level 4 Apprenticeship. We’re pleased to announce Laura passed with flying colours, receiving a distinction too!

From the entire team, well done Laura, an excellent achievement.

There’s not many Development in Dedham blogs in circulation where Chartered Financial Adviser Susie Laws isn’t mentioned, and this one isn’t about to buck the trend either.

In July, Susie attended the Professional Adviser Women in Finance Awards Ceremony seeking an unprecedented three-in-a-row triumph for Adviser of the Year Midlands & East Anglia.

Unfortunately, Susie didn’t win the award, however, following two consecutive years of virtual award ceremonies where she did win, Susie was able to attend the event in person for the first time. As can be seen from the photo, Susie (right) dressed to impress.

Well done to all the winners of the awards ceremony and hopefully our women in finance receive some nominations in 2023 too.

Moving on to sporting matters, we’re quite a sporting company after all. Congratulations to England’s Lionesses for reaching the Final of the Euro’s. Fingers crossed and good luck to the ladies versus Germany this Sunday 31st July!

Closer to Fiducia, we are continuing our sponsorship of Colchester Rugby Football Club for the 2022/23 season. Following a successful first season in their new ground at Raven Park, the team were promoted and will be playing in the 5th tier of the RFU Leagues in the 22/23 season. As a company we look forward to following their progress and supporting the team on matchdays.

Also, the second race of three in the Colchester Centurion Race Series we sponsor occurred the 9th of July. The Fiducia Men’s 3rd/4th Category race saw a good field of more than 30 riders take to the closed circuit at Colchester’s Northern Gateway.  On a hot and humid afternoon, various attacks (breakaways) tried to form during the race until a big split in the field occurred late on. The split created a group of riders who would go on to contest the sprint for the win at the front of the race. Honours, in the end, went to:

  • 1st Harvey Thomas (Strada 2020)
  • 2nd Will Barham (Hart Performance Coaching)
  • 3rd  Richard Norris (VC Revolution)

It was an impressive race from local rider Richard Norris, who started his racing career quite some time ago, but has been showing great form this season. The last race of the series is due to take place on the 10th of September.

Fiducia in the Community

As a company we feel strongly about supporting our local community. Senior Financial Adviser Rob Wood started a Charity Committee at Fiducia at the beginning of 2022. We can now confirm Rob has been joined on the committee by Liz Barry, James Crisell and Laura King.

The committee have met and discussed several local charities for Fiducia to support and one charity has been selected to be our Charity of the Year. We will be announcing this shortly in a separate blog.

Meanwhile, Rob has arranged for several Fiducia employees to help clean up Dedham village with a spot of litter picking. Our people will be taking time away from their desks throughout August to help keep the environment clean for all the visitors Dedham attracts and the beautiful wildlife in the area.

Whilst Dedham is picturesque, it is not immune to a nationwide problem of litter being dropped in its surroundings. Well done Rob and those that have volunteered their time to a worthy cause.

Lastly, we have great pleasure in announcing our annual Charity Challenge event is going ahead on Friday 9th September. The event see’s local companies compete in several challenges, both individually and in teams, to win the Fiducia Charity Challenge Shield.

Previous winners include Ensors Accountants and Prettys Solicitors. This is the first time we’ve been able to host the event since the Covid19 pandemic arrived and we are all looking forward to it immensely.

With a number of Charity events scheduled for later this year, if you would like to register your interest to receive information about them early, please do not hesitate to contact us on [email protected].

So as summer takes hold and holidays are taken, we thought we’d leave you with this quote from Steve Jobs – ‘Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogmas – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking.’

Enjoy the summer.

If there’s anything the team here at Fiducia can do to help you with your personal finances, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
