“If I can’t do great things, I can do small things in great ways.” — Martin Luther King Jr, we’re sure many people can resonate with this in someway or another. As the best C-word approaches – Christmas, it’s doing the small things in great ways that matters.

The month of November is known to be a beautiful month that acts as the boundary between autumn and winter. Here at Fiducia, November acted as a month of many things needing to be done in great ways and together we succeeded.

The month got off to a great start with news that Paraplanner Laura King became a Certified Paraplanner. This was quickly followed by James Crisell qualifying in Discretionary Investment Management and Rob Reed passing his Investment Principles & Risk exam. Huge congratulations to Laura, James and Rob, it’s great having you on our team and seeing you further your careers with qualifications.

With the Christmas period fast approaching, ensuring all our clients feel valued includes receiving a Christmas Card from us. This year we asked the children of Dedham C of E Primary School to participate in a Christmas Card Design Competition. With over 210 designs created and entered we have whittled them down to two designs which will be used for our company cards. A huge thank you to Head Teacher David Larner and the rest of his team at the school for their cooperation, we are truly grateful to have both a Key Stage 1 pupil’s design as well as a Key Stage 2 pupil’s making up our Christmas Cards. All children of the school received a gift from us and we wish them a very Merry Christmas!

We couldn’t update you about the going’s on here at Fiducia without mentioning the sporting activities we are involved in. Firstly, Colchester Rugby Football Club. The team played three and won three in the month of November and now find themselves third in the league table following convincing wins against Thurrock and Belsize Park (80-17 and 50-8 respectively) whilst the smallest of margins was enough to win away at Brentwood 35-34. Again, if you wish to be our guest at a rugby lunch and match, please do not hesitate to speak to a member of our team, it’s a fantastic day out and there’s some good rugby on show too.

Secondly, the Colchester Centurion Race Series – a British Cycling Event, concluded this month. Being the first of its kind in Colchester, we have been delighted to see the event well supported despite some pretty tricky weather conditions for both riders and spectators. The final Fiducia Wealth Management men’s 3rd/4th category race of the series was ridden at a hard tempo, with the race splitting up into a number of groups on the road.  But it was Calum Moir, the national Under 16 circuit champion, who took the win, his third of the series, meaning he took home the series prizes too.  Calum is clearly someone to look out for in the future. Thank you to Ian Mansell-Thomas and the team at Tafouti Everyone Active for including us on the series, we look forward to future events. ON the right you can see Rob Wood and Gordon Kearney celebrating with the podium winners.

Ok, so sporting events covered, onto more things about Fiducia. Tuesday 16th of November saw us re-launch our Schools Initiative Programme. The idea of the programme is for Fiducia personnel to visit high schools in and around Essex and East Anglia to provide insights on personal finances to the next generation of workers in the UK. With financial literacy being near it’s lowest on record, we hope to improve future statistics by helping educate the youth of today about their finances of the future. You can read more about our initiative re-starting here. Susie Laws (pictured on the right) accompanied by Jack Walmsley visited Chelmsford High School for Girls to deliver an engaging discussion with the Year 13 pupils about personal finance.

This is the first of many sessions planned in the pipeline, and with more booked in for 2022. We look forward to helping educate the future generations about personal finance to better equip them for what lies ahead in adulthood. Here’s Susie delivering some fun facts.

Talking of Susie, we have already covered the rise of our double Women in Finance award-winning Co-Owner, Director and Chartered Financial Adviser in another blog, but it was nice when Illuminate Nucleus Financial reached out to run a series of blogs about Susie in their publications. The first of which you can read here. Congratulations Susie on featuring in the press.

We’ve been extremely busy populating a number of new guides to release in the latter part of this year/early next, one of which we feel is extremely relevant for people to have – a ‘What I Own & Where I Keep It’ document. This document is very useful should something amiss happen and is proving extremely popular with our professional connections and their clientele. If you’d like a copy, please do reach out to our team who would be more than happy to talk through the importance of this document with you in more detail.

Before we provide some insights on a couple of exciting events we have coming up, this Christmas, Fiducia will again be supporting The Colchester Food Bank by donating food items most needed. To understand more about the great work this Charity does in our local community, please click here.

We will soon be going shopping to purchase many of the items on the list and this year, for the first time, we’d like to encourage our clients and friends to donate money towards this too. No amount is too small. If you’d like to donate through us here at Fiducia, please make donations to our Charity account, the details are:
