Having many friends and clients involved in the Mersea and sailing community, and with so many shared values among local sporting groups, we were honoured to have the opportunity to sponsor one of the West Mersea Yacht Club race marks this year.
Located just off the Bradwell shore, race mark 6 would usually be a key point of navigation in the Mersea Week races this week, which have sadly succumbed to the Covid-19 cancellations.
However, we’re thrilled that the Mersea Challenge race has been arranged for this Friday in lieu of the many races that have been cancelled.
As we know, these events are not self-funding and need considerable effort and funds to organise. As a club, to run such events the West Mersea Yacht Club needs the support of their members and so any additional income, in whatever form, is very welcome and allows the 120 year old club to maintain it’s reputation as the Premier Yacht Club on the East Coast.
While we all would have loved to see the community and club celebrating Mersea Week as it should have done, we would like to wish all the crews, families and members who are still able to enjoy the scene a wonderful weekend and look forward to being involved more in 2021. Let’s hope we can keep the yachts on course just as we keep our clients on course with their financial planning.
In light of the change of circumstances this summer in all areas of life, a few apt words from that famous Jimmy Dean quote:
“You can’t change the direction of the wind, but you can adjust the sails”
