We were delighted to be one of the corporate sponsors of the revived Colchester Carnival. Although the weather was most unkind as it rained continuously until mid afternoon, that did not dampen the spirits or enthusiasm of everyone who took part.
We pitched our gazebo in Castle Park early in the morning among the other sponsors and set about attracting passers by to take up our challenge, which was to identify the current value of £1,000 invested in the FTSE100 on 1 January 1986. Through the generosity of those who took up the challenge, we raised £92 for the Carnival fund to be used to support local charities. The answer was of course £10,925 and the winner with a prediction of £10,916 was Stephen Jay who won a luxury food hamper supplied by Fiducia and The Wine Centre, Great Horkesley plus two tickets to see a Country cricket game at Lords. There were four runner-up prizes who also received tickets for Lords.
The competition was organised by Dean with help on the day from Gordon, Jack, Angelique and John.
