at work
Thomas made a deliberate leap into financial services a few years ago, after a previous life in his family’s farming business. This involved everything from environmental projects to chasing livestock back from the neighbour’s field, and keeping an eye on the numbers.
Farming taught Thomas resilience, teamwork, and not to be afraid of hard graft. In farming, you need a strong sense of community, and those lessons have stuck.
Financial planning scratches the same itch for Thomas, thinking long term, planning for sustainability, and looking beyond the here and now.

Thomas spends most of his spare time with his partner. Fortunately, they’re very well matched: they both love ecology, the outdoors, travelling, and a good sweet treat or two.
What would you still like to do in life?
Scuba dive, ride a camel, and finish a Sudoku puzzle.
What do you love most about your job?
Getting to speak with people directly, working in a great team, where everyone is on the same page, and making a real difference.
What three small things make your day better?
Biscuits, coffee, and a lunchtime stroll.
What’s the proudest moment of your career so far?
Some years back, as part of our environmental work on the farm, we planted hundreds of native trees. Today, I can walk beneath their shade.
What are three facts about yourself most people don’t know?
I still tie my shoelaces using the bunny ears method. I can usually identify a tree if you point at it. And I may have cheated on my Hogwarts house quiz to get Ravenclaw, when deep down I know I’m a Hufflepuff.
What’s your favourite holiday destination?
Exploring Sri Lanka was a real highlight for me. It’s an incredibly beautiful place, and the kindness and generosity of the people made it even more special.
