Gordon Kearney

Managing Director and Financial Planner
Reviews and Ratings for Financial adviser Gordon Kearney, Colchester

When Gordon’s
at work

Gordon has spent more than 25 years in financial services. During that time, he’s had the privilege of helping individuals, families and business owners make thoughtful decisions about their finances and their future.

Over the years, he’s learned that financial planning isn’t really about products or markets; it’s about people, their lives, their ambitions and the choices they face along the way.

How Gordon
switches off

Gordon is a huge family person and spends most of his spare time with his wife and daughters. They love to travel together, whether that’s longer holidays or a city break exploring somewhere new.

Gordon has always had a strong interest in history and world affairs, something that stems from his history and politics degree and never really left him. He’s fascinated by how events, decisions and perspectives shape the world we live in.

Which three people would be at your dream dinner party?

Ricky Gervais, Jordan Peterson, and Sean Lock. Between the comedy, the debate and the unpredictability of the conversation, it would certainly be an entertaining evening.

What’s your pet peeve?

Adding decimal places when they’re completely unnecessary. If the extra precision doesn’t add any real meaning, it just makes things more complicated than they need to be.

What’s the best gift you’ve ever received?

I should probably say my children – which is true – but if I’m being honest, it was a wallet I received for my 40th birthday. I still use and appreciate it every day.

What three small things make your day better?

A really good coffee to start the day, the thank-you wave from another driver after letting them through or giving way, and those small everyday moments where someone shows simple kindness or appreciation.

What three things would you still like to do in life?

Visit Asia or Australia, eat at one of Heston Blumenthal’s restaurants, and score a hat-trick in a proper game of football.

What’s your favourite holiday destination?

Italy is somewhere I’m always happy to return to. The food, history, culture and atmosphere make it hard to beat.
