Time flies when you’re having fun and despite some village confusion with a tree falling down and damaging the church wall, we have been particularly busy with enquiries, administration and client reports. However, being the festive season, the team have worked hard outside of office hours as well as inside to ensure team morale has remained high throughout.
At the beginning of October, Susie Laws made several appearances on radio and television, providing financial insights following what only turned out to be a disastrous mini budget for the quickly departed Kwarsi Kwertang. On what was a busy few days, Susie could be heard across the country on the BBC Radio News Service of Cumbria, Shropshire, Cambridgeshire, Oxford and Bristol. For more info and to watch Susie appear on BBC Scotland’s The Nine Show, click here.
Sticking with our advisers for the moment, both Gordon & Susie have received some glowing reviews of late via VouchedFor which has resulted in them earning the Top Rated Adviser award. Receiving ratings of 4.9 & 4.8 respectively out of 5 is something we are very proud of them achieving and also reflects the level of service the entire team at Fiducia provide clients. So on that basis, well done Team Fiducia.
However, with great success comes failure, and fail we did when looking to have a joint team night out with Kersey’s Solicitors in late October. Hindered by traffic on the A12, our entire team unfortunately arrived late to the venue, which inevitably stopped them (and all) from enjoying the Ipswich Escape Room experience Kersey’s had planned. Not to be deturbed, both teams enjoyed refreshments in a local ‘watering hole’ followed by an excellent supper in a local fish bar. Hopefully the evening can be rescheduled.
We announced in our last Development in Dedham blog that The Tom Bowdidge Youth Cancer Foundation was our chosen Charity of the Year. In November we were blown away with the support received from our professional connections for our Charity Quiz Night. With over 140 people turning up on the night to support such a great cause, collectively we raised over £4,500 for the charity. This figure will enable Nikki Bowdidge (Charity founder) and the rest of her team to provide substantial support to teenagers and their families through a difficult period. We’re really thankful for the support and look forward to hosting more events in aid of the Tom Bowdidge Foundation throughout 2023. If you’d like to be kept up to speed with the events we have planned, please speak to a member of our team.
Pre-Christmas Quiz’s seem to be a ‘thing’ in todays corporate world and shortly after our own quiz, a few members of our team joined many other professionals at McTear, Williams & Woods’ annual quiz. The theme for the quiz was Stars & Stripes – basically a salute to U.S.A on Thanksgiving. A great evening was had with both success and failure enjoyed by Fiducia personnel. On the winning team was Susie Laws, who enjoyed a lovely bottle of wine as her prize. However, she wasn’t the only ‘winner’ on the night. Gordon Kearney managed to win last place with his team. As we’re sure you’d agree, we think he models his prize particularly well (second from left).
At the end of November, the entire team were treated to a couple of days in Dublin by Gordon and Susie for our ‘Christmas Do’. Strangely enough, it was more cost effective for the team to go to Dublin than it was to visit London for the day! Taking in the sights of Dublin, including an excellent whiskey distillery tour, the entire team had a great time and were extremely grateful to our owners for their generosity. Thank you Gordon and Susie! Here is the team all together, note this is before the whiskey tour and we had already replaced adviser Rob Wood with his doll twin.
Throughout the month of November and into the early part of December, we have been collecting donations for the Colchester Foodbank. We have received a huge amount of donations so far, but there is still time to make a contribution. We will be loading up Practice Manager Liz’s car from the week commencing 12th December to drop our collection off, if you wish to add to it, please do so asap! Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far, you really are helping make a huge difference to people.
Talking of making a difference, Paraplanner Laura King and Business Strategy Manager Matt Lovell were invited to Ipswich Town Football Club by the Suffolk Foundation in mid-November. The purpose of the event was to discuss and highlight the Suffolk Foundation’s Cost of Living Crisis Surviving Winter Appeal. For more information about the cause please click here. The event was a huge success and really highlighted some of the major issues people are having across Suffolk, every help where possible is needed to help local residents of Suffolk.
In other news, to further strengthen our community links, we have agreed a corporate partnership with Colchester’s Mercury Theatre. This partnership will see us advertise in and around the theatre over the next 12 months, whilst also providing us with the opportunity to invite clients, their families and professional connections to some exciting events held at the venue. More information about this will be shared in due course, but we are really excited by this.
Our Corporate Christmas Card will soon be winging its way to your inbox (if you’re on our mailing list that is). This year, in support of a greener future, and to better protect the environment, we have decided to send an e-card expressing our seasonal greetings. As a company we are conscious of the paper we use in the day to day running of the business, so we thought – why use more!
With all updates concluded, all that’s left for us to say is Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and enjoy spending time with loved ones. We are very thankful for an excellent 2022 and look forward to continuing our progression as a company into 2023 and beyond. As a polite reminder, we’re here to discuss your financial needs and goals if you need us.
