There’s an old Ukrainian proverb which reads “with patience it is possible to dig a well with a teaspoon”. At this time, whilst the people of Ukraine find themselves besieged by Russian troops, it is the message of optimism behind the proverb we should try our best to remember. Our thoughts remain with all those effected by the Ukraine situation.

The arrival of spring coincides with the approaching end of another tax year. Our team have been extremely busy since the beginning of 2022, transitioning from an office-based server to a cloud system. The team are now busy helping clients ensure their finances are in order ahead of the end of tax year deadline on the 5th of April.

Amongst the busyness, we are pleased to announce our team will be growing again at the end of March, with the arrival of Sara Perry who will be joining our Client Services Team. We are extremely pleased Sara chose to join us here at Fiducia and we look forward to seeing her career flourish at Fiducia.

A huge congratulations to James Crisell for completing his CII Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning in early March, giving him the DipPFS designation after his name. Having only joined the company some 6 months ago, James has taken his development and career to new heights. Also achieving exam success were Laura King and Rob Reed, both of whom passed the Pensions and Retirement Planning exam. Congratulations James, Laura and Rob from everyone in the team at Fiducia.

In early February Fiducia Co-Owner, Susie Laws, led a small team to visit Framlingham College to deliver an insightful presentation to students on personal finance. You can read more about the event here. In short, Susie’s presentation was practically perfect and all students engaged well as can be seen in the picture to the right.

Our advisers have had a busy couple of months with record numbers of enquiries coming into our company for financial advice. This is an exciting time for us as a company as we look to grow on all fronts. On Tuesday 15th March, a few of the team took the opportunity offered to them to visit Cheltenham Festival. From left to right in the photo Matt Lovell, Susie Laws, Gordon Kearney and Rob Wood had a fantastic time taking in the action and atmosphere Cheltenham Racecourse had to offer.

As many of you may already be aware, we are a company very keen to support local charities. Rob Wood is busy putting together a Fiducia Charity Committee which will see our people provide some much-needed support to local charities throughout the year. We’re all looking forward to our next company event too – a Charity Quiz night, which is being held at Colchester Rugby Club. We’re supporting Citizens Advice Bureau Colchester for this event, and with over 80 people already confirmed in attendance, there is still space for more. If you’d like some more information, please speak to a member of our team.

Towards the end of March, our Business Strategy Manager Matt Lovell took part in the Brentwood Half Marathon. Finishing the course around his local town in 2 hours 17 minutes, Matt also raised over £500 for one of his local charities. Great effort Matt and well done. Next month, on Sunday 3rd April, Susie Laws is taking part in the London Half Marathon. Susie is raising money for Tommy’s charity. You can read more about Tommy’s and donate to support Susie here. Good luck Susie!

One last final piece of news for the quarter includes several Fiducia female team members being nominated in the Professional Advisers Women in Finance awards.

Susie Laws (hoping to make it 3 in a row) is nominated for Financial Adviser of the Year – Midlands and East Anglia, Practice Manager Liz Barry has been nominated for Team Leader of the Year, Systems and Finance Analyst Sarah Hunter is nominated for In-House Adviser Support and Laura King, our Trainee Paraplanner, has been nominated for two awards – Paraplanning & Rising Star. Best of luck to all, we’re lucky to have you in Team Fiducia.

So, as we all enjoy the beginnings of Spring, the end and start of tax years, please do not forget to put your clocks forward on the 27th March, and also remember the day of the 27th is Mothering Sunday too. One final thought, ask yourself if what you’re doing today with your finances is getting you closer to where you want to be tomorrow, if the answer is no, our team can help.

If there’s anything the team here at Fiducia can do to help you with your personal finances, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
